Tony Mafia AKA Robert Lee Alderson 1931-1999

The Mafia Collective

image
Mafia Collective is named for Tony Mafia, aka Robert Lee Alderson (1931–1999), my Papa β€” a prolific Native American painter, poet, banjo player, and guitarist whose creative life moved fluidly between art, music, and performance. He was guitarist & lead singer in "The Men" when they were the house band at the Troubadour, his artwork once filled the walls of the Whisky a Go Go, he appeared on Perry Mason, created internationally shown lithographs, and his work was collected by figures like Steve Martin as well as everyday collectors who simply loved it. His paintings were often layered with poetry, humor, and social commentary, blending high craft with raw humanity.
